Landslide Caused By Heavy Rain, Sheet Piles 0n Jl. Lebak Bulus Raya Eroded, Indonesia
The high rainfall in recent days has caused a landslide in sheet pile as high as 2.5 meters on Jl. Lebak Bulus Raya. The incident also makes some asphalt of Jl. Lebak Bulus Raya eroded about 10 square meters.

“The landslide happens since three days ago when rain poured,” said Rudi (29), an owner of tire repair workshop near the incident location, Friday (1/17).

Rudi told that landslide that came from Jl. Adhyaksa is very endangering road users and motorists that passes on Jl. Lebak Bulus Raya. Moreover, the road that connects to Cirendeu with lebak Bulus is always crowded, especially at rush hours. “We put bamboos and used tires as a sign in order to prevent casualty,” he stated.

Responding on this matter, Head of Cilandak Public Works Sub-Department, Robby expressed that such landslide is caused by a heap of soil and buildings stood atop the channel empties into Pesanggrahan River. Consequently, unstable soils would not hold the security post’s load. “Then the soil eroded and cause landslide quickly hit the sheet piles,” he explained.

He disclosed that his sub-department has warned the owner to immediately demolish the security post. If not, it will endanger people. “This is prone to landslide. So, we cannot work well if there are still found illegal buildings,” he stressed.

As planned, he continued, if the debris of the collapsed building has been cleaned, his side will repair the sheet piles soon. “If the debris was finished today, we would repair the sheet piles on Sunday,” he finished.
