Blowing snow warnings issued for London areas by Environment Canada

Environment Canada is warning the London area could be hit with blowing snow and low visibilities starting Friday afternoon as winds gust as high as 80 kilometres.
An arctic low pressure system tracking through southern Ontario is expected to bring about five centimetres of snow with up to 10 centimetres in some areas.
Blowing snow warnings have been issued for regions east of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay, including Huron and Perth Counties, where blowing snow is expected to cut visibility to 500 metres or less in open areas.
A wind chill warning issued for most of Southwestern Ontario was dropped Friday morning.
London temperatures are forecast to climb to minus 6 on Friday.
Meanwhile, high winds and blowing snow in southern Bruce County are wreaking havoc on the area highways. Motorists were reporting zero visibility Friday afternoon, and police were dealing with several crashes and abandoned vehicles that were also hindering snow plows, said South Bruce OPP.
Emergency crews are having a hard time responding to stranded vehicles and advised drivers to avoid the highways until the storm passes.
