A bird strike caused a D.C.-bound American Airlines plane leaving from Dallas to have to make an emergency landing back in Dallas on Friday night, FAA officials confirmed with FOX 4.
AA Flight 1188 hit a flock of birds as it was taking off from DFW Airport at 6:23 p.m.
The pilot declared an emergency landing, and the plane, an MD-80, returned to DFW Airport at 7:20 p.m.
A total of 123 passengers and five crew members were on board. After landing, the passengers boarded another flight.
There is reportedly minor damage to the plane’s left engine.
The plane is currently in the airport’s maintenance hangar.
The storm is predicted to affect millions of people as it makes its way from the West Coast to New England.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Pittsburgh issued a winter storm warning for the area that went into effect Friday.
Lee Hendricks, NWS spokesman, said Fayette County residents can expect to wake up to rain and sleet Sunday morning, with possible snow accumulations in the afternoon.
Hendricks said the storm system is actually bringing in milder temperatures that will hit the mid-30s before falling into the upper 20s throughout the afternoon and late evening.
Hendricks said the snow is expected to taper off into flurries late Sunday night into Monday morning with temperatures dipping down to 5 or 10 degrees in the evening.
According to Hendricks, the remainder of the week appears to be dry until Thursday.

The body of the First World War soldier Private Francis Ryan was lost when a 20ft-deep sinkhole opened up under his war grave.
Military bosses are now racing against time to save the Tommy’s headstone from falling down the giant black hole.
Private Ryan lost his life in 1915 after volunteering to fight for King and Country and serving in the 3rd Battallion, Kings Liverpool Regiment.
Since then he has lain in the quiet corner of a war cemetery beneath a single Scots Pine for almost a century.

But last year a giant sinkhole opened up beneath his war grave in Pembroke Dock, West Wales.
The hole swallowed his coffin – leaving his military headstone teetering on the edge of a black hole.
A team of Ministry of Defence officials are now fighting to rescue Private Ryan’s remains in time for the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War.
Pembroke Dock district parade marshal David Boswell said: “Mother Nature has taken over and when she opens up her body there is not much you can do.
“It’s a shame it’s happened but the MoD have looked into it and are trying to restore the grave to its original condition as soon as possible.
“This is the only military cemetery in Wales so will be nice to have it re-opened and ready for the centenary of the First World War.”

The MoD has so far failed to trace a living relative of Private Ryan – who was born in Longford, Ireland, in 1875.
He died aged 40 while serving in the reserve 3rd Battallion, Kings Liverpool Regiment, and stationed in Pembroke Dock, West Wales.
The war cemetery is the final resting place for 23 Commonwealth service personnel from the First World War and 51 from the Second World War.
An MoD spokeswoman said they want to avoid exhuming Private Ryan and plan to fill the sinkhole with grout mixture to stop his headstone falling in.
She said: “Work to fill in the sink hole is due to begin this week and is expected to be completed by the end of March.
“The chosen option does not involve any exhumation and the MOD is confident that work will be effective.
“However in the extremely unlikely event that the option chosen is not effective the MOD will have to consider other options some of which may involve exhumation.”
