Severe weather knocks down trees, damages homes in Michigan, USA

Severe Weather Alert

Severe weather that may have spawned a tornado knocked down trees and damaged homes in Michigan’s northern Lower Peninsula.

Linda Perakovic tells The Bay City Times that she was playing Yahtzee with her husband, son and daughter-in-law in the living room of her Ogemaw County home on Tuesday afternoon when a storm came through. She says: “It started raining, and then it started howling.”

Damage was seen in Rose Township, about 150 miles northwest of Detroit, as well as other areas. No injuries were reported.

Damage included downed power lines. A few miles away in Rose City, Zach and Courtney Oakes cleaned up fallen trees on their property.

The National Weather Service plans to survey damage on Wednesday to determine whether it was caused by a tornado or straight-line winds.
