Severe hailstorm causes widespread damage in China

Local governments in China issued emergency responses following a deluge of hailstones on Sunday.
 
Various towns in the northwestern Gansu Province and surrounding Tanchang County were affected in the 30-minute storm on Sunday afternoon, which caused widespread damage to vehicles, crops and buildings.
 
The deluge of hailstones, measuring up to 22mm in diameter, caused a 3-4cm deep white layer.
 
Local governments issued emergency response plans and deployed personnel to the affected areas for disaster relief and inspection.
 
Last month, four people died and 387,000 were affected by heavy rain and a hailstorm China’s Hunan province.

Massive hailstorm damages houses in Kokrajhar, India

The massive hailstorm on Saturday evening caused damage to the houses in remote villages in Bishmuri and Serfanguri areas of Kokrajhar district.
 
A local activist of Bashbari under Bishmuri police outpost, Chandan Brahma said the massive hailstorm on Saturday caused a lot of damage in at least 5-6 villages in their locality. He said that villages like Bhadrampur, East Maligaon, Bashbari, Garlabari and Dekhadambra had been affected. The villagers alleged that no survey was carried out by the department concerned on the next day to access the loss of property and household materials. The hailstorm also damaged similar kind of properties in Belguri, Podmabil and Pakriguri under Serfanguri police station on the same evening.
 
The local MLA Pramila Rani Brahma, accompanied by former MCLA of Dotma, Indra Mahan Brahma visited the villages affected by the hailstorm. She visited Belguri, Podmabil, Pakriguri, Nepalibasti, Bhadrampur and Bishmuri to take the stock of situation.
 
Brahma told this correspondent at Bhadrampur that she had asked the district administration to take immediate steps to supply tarpaulin and other aid to the affected villagers. The local MCLA Jatirindra Brahma along with party workers also visited the affected villages in Serfanguri areas on that day to assess the loss of property.

Severe storms bring hail, tornado warnings to central Indiana, USA

Severe weather Sunday night brought tornado warnings, hail and flash flooding to central Indiana.
 
According to the National Weather Service, there were numerous reports of a wall cloud from southern Putnam County through Hendricks and Morgan counties. And while there were reports of a tornado near Indianapolis International Airport, the NWS said there was no confirmation of a tornado.
 
The airport did have a gust of 70 mph Sunday night. The storm was primarily a large hail/flooding event with rotating storms. An NWS survey team may go to Darlington/Linden to confirm reports of a tornado in the area.
