Thousands of dead fish found in a dam in Palmar, Uruguay
Residents of the surroundings of the Constitución Hydroelectric Plant, also known as Represa de Palmar, reported on social networks the presence of thousands of dead fish on the banks of the Río Negro.
According to different photographs, audios and videos that circulate, thousands of fish are appearing dead in the dam. Some say that is because, when the floodgates of the dam are closed, the flow of water is abruptly and excessively reduced, and many of the animals are trapped in the river bed without enough water to circulate freely. In areas where water is deeper, due to the characteristics of the bottom of the river, the fish agglomerate to survive, and it seems that the water is boiling, when in reality it is the fish that are swimming one above the other.
