Cleveland Volcano, Alaska Alert Level Raised To ORANGE

A small explosion was detected yesterday at 14:57 UTC (05:57 AKST) on seismic and infrasound sensors. A small ash plume was observed heading ENE at an altitude of about 15,000 ft (5 km).
The Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) raised the aviation alert level of the volcano to Orange.
“Explosions from Cleveland typically produce relatively small volcanic ash clouds that dissipate within hours; however, more significant ash emissions are possible.
Cleveland volcano is monitored with a limited real-time seismic network, which inhibits AVO’s ability to detect precursory unrest that may lead to an explosive eruption. Rapid detection of an ash-producing eruption may be possible using a combination of seismic, infrasound, lightning, and satellite data.”

Landslide blocks Jammu-Srinagar highway in India
A fresh landslide on Saturday blocked the Jammu-Srinagar national highway near Ramban town, officials said, adding that efforts were on to make the nearly 300-km-road traffic-worthy.
A landslide struck the highway, the only all-weather road connecting Kashmir with the rest of India, in Maroog area at around 10.30 am, forcing authorities to suspend traffic on the highway, traffic department officials said.
The traffic on the highway had been restricted to one way for a fortnight and only Jammu-bound vehicles were allowed to run on the road from Srinagar on Saturday morning.
The officials said a road-clearance operation was under way despite drizzle and efforts were on to remove the blockade from the highway as soon as possible.
Incessant rain lashed parts of Jammu and Kashmir, including the highway over the past two days, triggering landslides at several places on the Ramban-Banihal stretch.
However, the road was cleared around noon on Friday and the traffic, which was suspended earlier, was allowed to move from Jammu to Srinagar around 2 pm.
High-altitude areas in the state have experienced moderate snow since March 1, resulting in considerable drop in temperatures.
