60 TONS of fish die in a lake in Batangas, Philippines
Some 60 tons of freshwater fish or tilapia were affected by fish kill in Taal Lake in Agoncillo, Batangas, a report on Unang Balita said Tuesday.
The Agoncillo Municipal Office blamed the fish kill to the decreased level of dissolved oxygen in the lake caused by Typhoon Rosita.
The Agoncillo Municipal Agriculture Office estimated that the affected tilapia, which were supposed to be harvested in a month’s time, is worth P5 million.
The Bureau of Fisheries and the Aquatic Resources and the Agoncillo Municipal Office is still monitoring the situation of the lake where the fish kill occurred.
