Over eight families in Kassanda district are stranded after a hailstorm ravaged the area, leaving them homeless.
The Thursday evening downpour ravaged Kyanamugera and the nearby villages in Nalutuntu Sub County in Kassanda, destroying crop gardens, banana plantations and several houses.
Annet Kigongo, the area LC 1 Chairperson said they had spent some time without having rainfall, adding that the injured were rushed to health centres for treatment.
“The rain was heavily characterized by hailstorms and our gardens are no more. Ten people have respectively been admitted in Nalutuntu and Kiganda health centres but only four of them sustained serious injuries,” Kigongo said.
Among the injured was Justine Nakanwagi, 45, Janet Muhindo, 35 and toddlers, Gladys Bbira, 6 and Arnold Masereka of 2 years-old.
Local leaders called upon the Ministry for Disaster Preparedness and area political leaders to rescue them with all necessary aid.
