A tropical wave a couple hundred miles east-northeast of the northern Leeward Islands is gaining strength, and the National Hurricane Center now pegs the odds of a tropical cyclone emerging within the next 48 hours at 30 percent.
This concentrated area of showers and thunderstorms continues tracking to the northwest at 10 to 15 mph.
Meanwhile, the remnants of former Tropical Storm Hanna are forecast to move inland over Belize and northern Guatemala by Wednesday morning.
A tropical wave continues to become better-organized Sunday, and odds that the storm strengthens into a tropical cyclone within the next five days have increased from 50 to 60 percent.
In its 2 p.m. report, the National Hurricane Center added that the chance that the system organizes into a tropical cyclone within 48 hours has increased from 30 to 40 percent.
