THE UK now has two new coronavirus hotspots Health Secretary Matt Hancock has revealed today despite death numbers dropping across the country.

According to Mr Hancock, Leicester and Kirklees in Yorkshire have experienced new outbreaks. The Government has sent units out to the areas to help contain the respective outbreaks. Earlier, coronavirus deaths in UK hospitals increased by 135, including the loss of a two-week-old baby in England, the latest figures show. Deaths have increased by 135 according to the latest statistics related to hospital deaths in the UK it has been revealed today which including the tragic death of a two-week-old baby. The UK’s death total now stands at 42,288 as of 5pm yesterday. Earlier, NHS England announced an additional 62 people have died after testing positive for COVID-19. The reported death toll in English hospitals now stands at 28,175. Those who died in the most recent 24 hour period were aged between 13 days and 96-years-old. Three of those patients, aged between 13 days and 83, had no known underlying health conditions.

Earlier, Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said two more people had died in the country after testing positive for coronavirus, bringing the overall death toll to 2,464 patients.

Speaking in the Scottish Parliament, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said an additional 11 people had tested positive for COVID-19, with this total increasing to 18,077.

There are 929 people in hospital with confirmed or suspected coronavirus, down by 36 from the previous day.

Public Health Wales said an additional five people have died from coronavirus after testing positive for the disease.

This increases the overall death toll in the country to 1,471.

There have been 48 new cases, with this total now standing at 14,970.
